Civil Technician – 1 Post

Position Objective
To ensure that all scheduled activities related to civil works at the plant are carried out effectively and efficiently.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare weekly maintenance Schedules and depict them on notice board for subordinates to realize the works has to execute daily.
- Ensure preventive maintenance of all civil structure is executed as per schedule and that emergency breakdowns are attended timely.
- Make sure that maintenance record sheets are filled daily after execution of maintenance (both PM & Emergency breakdowns) works.
- Ensure availability of adequate tools for civil maintenance.
- Initiate RTPs and SIVs for regular needs of materials and spare parts. Also you will be responsible to initiate appropriate works orders (CWOs and R& M) as per approved budgets and forward them for approval and authorization. .
- Ensure high standard of cleanliness and good appearance of all plant buildings, i.e all plant offices, power house, staff houses and other related surroundings.
- Observe safety regulations when carrying out maintenance duties so as to avoid injuries or fatal accidents.
Key Knowledge, Experience and Skills you must posses
- Form IV or VI secondary Certificate
- Holder of FTC or Ordinary Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution
- Transcript or Examination Result not accepted.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of related experience
- Computer literacy is a must

The Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) is an independent, world class regulatory authority responsible for licensing, tariff regulation and quality of service regulation of the electricity, water, petroleum and natural gas sectors. EWURA has the following vacancies for which suitably qualified Tanzanian citizens are invited to apply.
1. REGULATORY ECONOMICS DIVISION
Post Title: Director of Regulatory Economics – One Post
Duty Station: EWURA Head Office – Dar es Salaam
Reports to: Director General
Director of Regulatory Economics will be responsible for providing economic regulatory services to all sectors regulated by the Authority as well as coordinating and monitor business planning process for the Authority.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
i) Providing expert testimony during rate making process, and advising the Board on economic regulation matters from time to time;
ii) Performing financial analysis/audit, developing and implementing economic and financial models to cater for specific regulatory agendas;
iii) Monitoring of market competition in the regulated sectors;
iv) Reviewing the Authority’s strategic plan and carrying out research in areas relevant to the Regulated Sectors;
v) Collecting and analyzing information from the regulated sectors and disseminates information on performance of the Regulated Sectors;
vi) Monitoring performance of the Regulated Sectors in terms of level of investment, availability of Regulated Services, cost of services and level of efficiency in production and distribution;
vii) Handling tariffs and petroleum prices setting matters including conditions to operators in the Regulated Sectors in order to institute financial discipline and efficiency;
viii) Conducting economic, financial and policy analyses and their impact on the Regulated Sectors’ operations;
ix) Benchmarking utilities’ performance over time with one another or peers to assess its productivity, indirect costs, return and growth, utility staffing, funding from development partners etc; and
x) Coordinating, monitoring and evaluating integrated business planning process for the whole Authority.
xi) To undertake any other duties as assigned by the Director General.
Academic Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate for this position should have the following qualifications and experience:
i) University degree in economics or statistics from a recognized university;
ii) Masters degree or Postgraduate qualifications in economics or Business administration;
iii) Knowledge and Competence in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) applications; and
iv) Not less than Eight (8) years work experience in the relevant field. Out of which three (3) years should be in senior management position in any of the regulated sectors.
Personal Attributes

Qualifications
Minimum of Certificate in Computer Science, IT, Computer Engineering, or related field.
Specializes in the servicing and general maintenance of printers, photocopiers & fax machines.
Creativity and ability to team work Resilience and resourcefulness
A+ Certification is an added advantage
Atleast 3 years of experience.
Job Descriptions
To perform routine maintenance of printing and photocopier equipment such as cleaning, changing filters, refilling ink developer and toner, adding fuser agents, and clearing paper jams.
Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
Any other duties as assigned by the General Manager.

Job Description

We are seeking a talented individual to run trials on a variety of crops and methods, consult farmers and staff on agronomic issues, and to assist with training development of thousands of farm families across Southern Tanzania
At One Acre Fund we value innovation and hard work. First and foremost we are seeking someone who is very knowledgeable about agronomic crop production in Tanzania, specifically maize production. We are also seeking someone who is interested in developing creative solutions to agricultural issues facing our farmers. This position includes the management of large nurseries and numerous staff. A successful candidate must be management oriented with leadership experience.
This position also includes data collection that will undergo strenuous validation. Attention to detail and accuracy are very important. A successful candidate should have some experience crop research, academic or professional. Data collection and office communication will be done electronically and basic understanding of email, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel would be highly valued.
This position will be working with both Tanzanian and international staffers. English proficiency in mandatory, as well as flexibility and understanding for minor cross cultural differences.
Primary Duties of the Agronomist
Nursery Trial Management- Propose, plan and execute agricultural trials. This position comes with the responsibility to report the results of products and methods that could boost incomes for thousands of families. The agronomist will be responsible for hiring and managing nursery labor. Nursery guidance will come from a senior manager, but will largely be an independent project.
Farmer level trials- The Agronomist position will also have the responsibility of organizing and consulting on farmer level trials to test the practicality of new products or methods
Crop Calendaring and Training development- The Agronomist will work closely with senior level staff to consult on the timing of agricultural practices to produce the highest return on farmer investment. This position will also consult staff on farmer level trainings to ensure the best practices for our farmers
Crop Consultation- The agronomist position will also have the responsibility of directly interacting with farmers to discuss the status of their crops and scout for any potential issues

Training Specialist

II) Project Description:
The Storage and Proper Post-Harvest Improvements for Resource Efficiency (SAPPHIRE II) project is a five year, US$5 Million project funded by DFID. SAPPHIRE is designed to enable 40,000 smallholder farmers, including female farmers, in the southern highlands of Tanzania to increase their incomes by 10-20% annually. This impact will be achieved via a series of interventions that catalyze improvements to Tanzania‘s Warehouse Receipt System (WRS) in tandem with those that reduce smallholder post-harvest grain losses and increase yield.
Project activities begin at the farm level–working on improved agronomy for sunflower, maize, and rice farmers with a focus on increasing yield and minimizing losses. The commodities are then consolidated–maize and rice are stored in warehouses using a receipt system. From there, the commodities are sold into a variety of marketing channels, enabling farmers to achieve higher prices for their products. Project staff train farmers and warehouse staff on financial literacy and techniques and warehouse management for operating their farms and warehouses more like businesses.
III) Primary Purpose
· The Training Advisor will be responsible for overseeing SAPPHIRE II training program
· Update existing training curricula and develop new curricula when necessary;
· Work together with Business Advisors, assigning tasks as needed through incorporation of responsibilities into project training calendar;
· Participate as an integral member of the project’s senior management team;
· Facilitate training of TechnoServe trainers and as needed;
· Provide quality assurance of the training delivered;
· Evaluate the performance of project staff with regards to training;
· Collaborate with the project management team to ensure success of the project as a whole (achieving goals/targets, motivating team members, establishing schedules, etc.).
IV) Duties and responsibilities
· Oversee SAPPHIRE II training program implementation focusing on agronomy, post-harvest handling and storage management and access to finance
· Oversee SAPPHIRE II training material revisions i.e. develop and organize training manuals, translation and production, as well as other educational materials;
· Maintain SAPPHIRE II training calendar;
· Oversee SAPPHIRE II training logistics in partnership with SBA and BA’s (e.g., attendance and completion tracking, scheduling);
· Conduct Training Needs Assessment
· Analyze training needs to develop new training skills or modify and improve training;
· Gather training data required for monitoring and evaluation in a timely and accurate manner;
· Any other duties assigned by the Supervisor.
V) Requirements :
· Bachelor’s Degree in related field with a minimum of 5+ years’ experience delivering and supporting training programs’
· Experience facilitating/delivering training curricula to a variety of audiences;
· Experience developing and producing training curricula;
· Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a rapidly growing and changing international organization;
· Ability to work both independently and as part of a team;
· Oral and written communication skills that are clear and concise in both English and Swahili;
· Ability to lead via influence and to communicate effectively across a range of seniority levels;
· Business acumen and keen attention to detail;
· Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);

· Train Farmers and warehouse managers and operators in business planning and financial models and assist them to develop viable business plans for sustainable warehouse enterprises.
· Train farmers on farming as a business.
· Conducting feasibility studies for warehouse business
· Train warehouse managers and operators in Storage management
· Training farmers and warehouse operators/managers in grains quality standards.

· Masters’ degree is preferred.

· Vast experience in interpreting Tanzania Cooperative Act and laws
